Installation Tips for EBC Brakes

As the best solution for high-performance, premium aftermarket EBC brakes, rotors, and brake kits for cars, New Provisions Racing provides multiple solutions for the Subaru BRZ, WRZ, and STI and numerous Ford, Acura, and Honda makes and models.

We proudly provide our customers with the highest quality products, insight, tips, and guidance when using our brake kits in their cars. When installing our EBC brakes and brake kits, remember some simple guidelines.

Park Your Car and Inspect the Brake Fluid

Make sure your cars are parked on a level, dry surface and that your wheel chocks are properly installed and secured. Next, open the hood and remove the brake fluid from your car to avoid any unnecessary spillage.

Raise Your Car and Remove Hardware

Always practice safety first when using our EBC brake kits. Loosen the lug nuts on the wheel before you hoist your car. This ensures you’re not trying to force the lug nuts while your car is hoisted. Remove all the hardware.

Remove Bolts, Old Pads, and Rotors, and Clean the Mounting Surface

Always use new hardware when replacing brakes on cars. Remove the rotors and the brake pad, and clean the mounting surface with a brill pad or wire brush to ensure no corrosion or rust is present. Ensure the proper orientation of the brake pad, disc, rotors, and assemblies when using our EBC brake kits.

How To Choose The Right EBC Brakes for Your Car?

From undercarriage components and assemblies to exhaust systems, tuning packages, turbos, downpipes, discs, and brake pads, our parts are meticulously selected by a car-loving team of gearheads. While we are more than capable of helping you select your high-performance EBC brake pad, there are some simple ways to ensure you are selecting the correct brake kits for your cars.

  • First, understand the type of driving you do. A brake pad can be designed for off-road, highway, or city driving. Understanding the type of terrain you typically drive on is essential.

  • Second, make sure the brake pad, disc, and rotors are suitable for your car's make and model. Our website will list OEM-equivalent aftermarket EBC brakes, pads, rotors, and brake kits.

  • Third, if needed, you can always measure the OD of your rotors and match those dimensions to the brake kits, rotors, and disc information on our website—or call us, and we’ll be more than happy to help you choose the perfect EBC brake assembly.

EBC brakes are high-quality parts that will work for many different car types and driving situations. There is a brake type for all your needs. We offer products from their extensive lines, providing you with many options. Our EBC brake kits are the real deal, providing you with premium performance you won’t get from other brands.

All EBC brakes rotors and EBC brakes are designed to have excellent resistance to heat and work well with heavy braking. You’ll also enjoy less brake dust with EBC brake pads than with your OEM brake parts.

With excellent cold friction, EBC brakes are known for being the product of choice for performance road car drivers. You won’t have a problem braking when you need to, which is not something every product can guarantee. These brakes are guaranteed to perform as well as, if not better than, your OEM brake parts in this regard.

Benefits of Using EBC Brake Parts

Upgrading to EBC brake parts offers numerous benefits over stock brakes. As your source for premier performance upgrades, New Provision Racing provides a wide selection of EBC pads, rotors, and kits to enhance your drive.

EBC brake pads give you shorter stopping distances thanks to compounds engineered for friction and bite. You'll experience less brake fade on repeated hard braking. Advanced designs also reduce brake dust, keeping your wheels cleaner. EBC's precise pad shapes ensure smooth bedding and optimal contact with rotors.

EBC uses high-carbon metals and innovative designs to dissipate heat faster for rotors. Cross-drilling and slotting combat gassing and warping, improving pedal feel and braking consistency. EBC brake kits bundle pads and rotors for complete braking overhauls.

Specific lines like Redstuff and Yellowstuff are tuned for street or track needs. Daily drivers gain refined power with Redstuff, while Yellowstuff offers race-level grip. We inventory the full range of EBC brake parts.

When upgrading your brakes, rely on EBC's proven performance. Their innovative engineering allows pads and rotors to work better together. Give your car championship-caliber braking with our premium selection of EBC parts. Or explore other leading brands like StopTech brakes. Our team can guide you to the ideal setup.

At New Provisions Racing, we know Subaru owners take pride in their vehicles, whether they enjoy competitive races or simply exploring the outdoors. If you're in the market for aftermarket brakes, rotors, pads, and other relevant Subaru parts, New Provisions Racing is your go-to destination for new brakes, installation tips, and even ongoing maintenance advice.

Top Brands That Sell Aftermarket Subaru Brake Parts

If you're thinking of upgrading your Subaru's brakes or its entire braking system, it's important to become familiar with top brands that offer aftermarket brake parts, such as pads and rotors:

  • StopTech: StopTech specializes in high-performance brake components focused on power and reliability. StopTech is known for its performance brake kits and its use of high-friction materials for maximum stopping power in all weather conditions.

  • DBA Brakes: DBA brakes, also known as Disc Brakes Australia, provide high-performance rotors that reduce brake fading while increasing stopping power. They also include advanced metallurgy and Kangaroo Paw ventilation systems for enhanced cooling.

  • Hawk Performance Brakes: Hawk Performance brakes are tailored to various driving styles, making them an ideal choice for motorsport enthusiasts and everyday casual drivers. Hawk Performance brakes do not require specific modifications and can be easily installed. Additionally, they provide reduced brake fade and impressive heat dissipation.

Signs Your Subaru Needs New Brake Parts

Before you begin shopping around for and comparing StopTech brakes, it's important to know the signs that indicate your Subaru may need new brake parts, such as:

  • Grinding, Squealing, and Squeaking Noises: Odd grinding, squeaking, and squealing noises are a tell-tale sign of an issue with your Subaru's brake system or brake pads.

  • Pulsations and/or Vibrations: Vibrations in your steering wheel or brake pedal indicate warped rotors.

  • Fluid Leaks: If you notice brake fluid leaks beneath your car, it may cause even more damage to your Subaru's braking system as a whole.

  • Warning Lights: Depending on the type of Subaru you're driving, you may also notice a brake warning light on your dashboard, indicating a bigger issue with your brakes.

  • Stopping Distance: If your Subaru takes a longer time to come to a complete stop, you may need a professional inspection.

How To Install Subaru Brake Pads & Rotors

Whether you choose Hawk performance brakes or StopTech brakes, installing Subaru brake pads and rotors can be done by following a step-by-step guide:

  • Preparation: Gather tools, such as lug wrenches, jacks, jack stands, brake cleaners, and socket sets. You may need to change your Subaru's brake pads and rotors.

  • Lift Your Subaru: If you're planning on changing the brakes of your Subaru on your own, you'll need to use a jack to lift the vehicle safely while securing it above the ground.

  • Remove the Wheel: Remove the wheel to access the brake system of your Subaru

  • Remove Old Brake Components: Once you have access to the Subaru's brake system, you can remove the caliper by unscrewing any bolts and keeping them in place. Then, remove the brake rotor and pads.

  • Install New Parts: Use an in-depth guide to install new rotors and brake pads into your Subaru.

  • Complete the installation: Once your new brake pads and components are in place, you will need to reinstall the caliper and reattach the wheel. Lower your vehicle to complete the job.

Maintaining Your Subaru’s Brake System

Whether you're using DBA brakes or StopTech brakes with your Subaru, routine maintenance is essential to ensure your vehicle's brakes always perform optimally, especially in harsh or risky weather conditions. A few tips to remember when maintaining your Subaru's brake system on your own include:

  • Routine Cleaning: Cleaning your brake system regularly with a soft cloth will prevent dust and dirt from accumulating on the pads and surrounding calipers.

  • Fluid Levels: Regularly check your Subaru's brake fluid levels and top it off as necessary to avoid the risk of overheating while driving.

  • Inspect: Inspect for wear and tear every few months and listen for strange sounds, such as grinding or squealing while breaking.

  • Schedule Inspections: Schedule routine inspections to check for potential issues or problems with your Subaru well in advance.

At New Provisions Racing, we're proud to stock only the highest-quality Subaru brakes, pads, rotors, and components. Whether you need performance brakes or you're seeking peace of mind anytime you get behind the wheel, New Provisions Racing has you covered.

Shipping was quick. Install is fairly easy. Just don’t use the fuel sock that comes with the AEM unit. I had binding issues when trying to clip the fuel hangar back together, when I used the DW sock instead, it all clicked together easily.

I originally ordered the X-Force I pipe for my 24 WRX. However it was on back order and wouldn't be here for a few months. I talked with the owner and he was able to change my order to the JDMUSCLE I Pipe instead. And it was on my doorstep within 3 days.

Honestly, ignore the price because this isn’t like engine oil where you have to change it out every 3,000-3,500 miles and in my opinion, the 5MT shifts way better and the differential definitely got way more quite. If you’re due for a transmission fluid change, this is the way to go.

This is a great bundle if you’re not sure what the andrewtech cocktail is for a Subaru 5MT. The pads are very easy to install on the VB series WRX. The old pads click out and new ones click in. The pads themselves are very quiet and seem to have a nice bite to them. You can see the red pads through the spokes of the rim which is a nice touch. For daily use, they seem plenty robust enough.

Haven't tracked them, yet. # The good * cost: compared to G-LOC, Carbotech, and Hawk, these are 1/2 the price, so I figured why not * Fitment: They fit exactly as OEM. Spot on backing plates. * They definitely stop better than OEM. 100-0 stops X 15 in a row no problem # The not so good * Overall seating and bed-in is typical EBC: Not what I like about them. Too complicated, etc. EBC should pre-burnish the pads. G-LOC and Carbotech both can be ordered pre-burnished * Seating: The EBC recommendation is ridiculous. drive for 100-200 miles bla bla bla. If interested read below on how I did it. * Bed-in: This is OK, but also too complicated. So, I made it easier. * The shims are OK, but for the outside pads, you will want to use OEM shim because the EBC shim isn't big enough for the entire caliper feet/arms to push on the shim. * Cool Down: EBC direction for these pads is conflicting and they contradict themselves numerous times in the procedure recs. They expect you to "Best" scenario let the car sit over night to cool down. Now IDK about you, but I've never needed to have performance pads sit in the driveway for like 12 hours before ready to use. # What I did: Mind you, I had to keep getting out and measuring temps and checking for proper seating. So, I'll spare you the time of doing that. Below is what I did totally. * Bare in mind that it's 35F degrees out during this process. Summer would be much easier. * What NOT to do: Tried riding the brakes method (EBC recommendation), but the ECU then cuts power, so I don't recommend you doing that. * Drove 25 miles total to seat them to the new rotors. 40-20 X 15, then 50-30 X 15, then 60-30 X 15, then 60-20 X 15. Then they were seated. * Went to the Turnpike: 1rst tried 80-30 X 8. Not hot enough. Then, again. Still not hot enough. Then again, but 30% pressure, got rotors to 400 F, pads 200F. So I did 85-30 X 12 at 50% brake pressure = rotors about 650 F and pads starting to smoke volatiles off. F pads 350 F, R pads 300 F. So I did 90-30 about 60% brake pressure X 10, and finally smoking hot, rotors about 750 F and F pads 425 R pads 380F. * Then drove 15 minutes at 50 mph non-stop, Then .. * 90-30 X 10 at 70% brake = hot. rotors about 700F, F pads 300F, R about 300F. * Then, again 90-30, then immediately 95-20 X 8, then 100-20 X 6-8 = proper burn-in, couldn't smell much more volatiles, so I knew they were burnished. I did NOT STOP during this last run. * Drove 20 min. at 50mph to cool off = F pads 80F R 60F, F rotors 100F, R about 80F. * parked it. waited for 1.5 hours before driving. all rotors and pads down to 40F
